Map & Driving
Instructions

Thredbo is
located in the
magnificent High Country of Australia and is around 5-6 hours drive
from Sydney and 6-7 hours from Melbourne.
The drive
from Sydney is mostly
on a dual carriage system with some great stopover attractions along
the way. Once you arrive in Canberra, take the Monaro Highway through
to Jindabyne. This section of the trip is approximatly 2.5 hours
depending on traffic and weather conditions. About 3km from
Jindabyne take a left hand turn into Alpine Way and commence the
climb to Thredbo Village. This is approximately 33 km. On the approach
to Thredbo you will come across a right hand turn (Friday
Drive)
directing you into Thredbo
Village. Please ignore this turn off and continue another 1.5km and you
will see a long line of carparks on the right hand side of the road.
Continue until you reach the last 8 of these which are owned by
Winterhaus
Lodge.
All cars
(4WD exempt) must carry
chains in winter and fines are imposed by the NSW Roads and Maritime
Service should you not have
them in a time of need. They can be hired from the BP Service Station
in Jindabyne or the Thredbo Service Station. Upon entering the National
Park all cars are subject to a toll booth charge. Click here for the current rates.
These are imposed by the New
South Wales National Parks.
